question about ED and college order of preference

So I plan to apply ED to architecture, with arts and sciences as my second choice. If I don't get into architecture, which is a strong possibility, will they consider me for arts and sciences the same way they consider the other ED applicants for arts and sciences? Or do my chances drop to the level of RD applicants since a second choice acceptance isn't binding?

The reason I'm asking, I want to know if I should switch my order of preference and put arts and sciences first to increase my chances of getting in to Syracuse. Or, do I have just as much chance of getting into arts and sciences regardless of whether I put it first or second (assuming I can't get into architecture - if I can't, I'd still want to go to Syracuse and maybe try to switch majors later.)

You are considered for your second choice with the other ED applicants. You’ll still get notified as an ED but since you got your second choice, you aren’t held to the commitment and will be treated as RD from that point on.
