Syracuse is my top school and I'm really interested in attending the S.I Newhouse School of Public Communications there. I know how tough it is to get into so, I was wondering if it would be better for me to apply ED or RD? Does anyone know how many kids newhouse accepts from it's ED pool? Thank you! :)

It seems as thought Syracuse is notable for accepting students but not always to their first choice school. You may apply for Newhouse as first choice but get into your second choice and if you applied Early Decision you would still have to go even if it wasn’t in Newhouse. I applied to Newhouse RD and selected that it was my first an only choice, therefore if I didn’t get in I wouldn’t want to be accepted to the school at all and I was accepted. If you’re absolutely sure it’s where you want to go ED can be a good thing. These are just some good things to keep in mind.

Not true. With ED, if you do not get into 1st choice, it is NOT binding. Only 1st choice is binding.
If Newhouse is the program you want, it is absolutely advantageous to apply ED. This is true with any University.

Ohhh I thought I read on a really old board of that happening to a person but who knows.

But thanks for clearing it up urbanparent!

I advise all students to go directly to school websites for the REALLY important info. and not rely on CC. This forum is great for so many questions, but not always accurate.
