question about ED

If I apply ED Winter decision, which is due jan 2nd, I can still apply elsewhere, no? It's a question of whether I'll show the interest and dedication that the regular ED applicant shows.

If you apply to the second deadline for ED, you can still turn in applications to other schools, BUT you can't apply ED to other schools, since by turning in an ED application you make the legal committment to attend if you are accepted

Of course, if Smith turns you down, then you're off the hook. So you can and should apply other places, just in case.

Whether applying ED I or II, you are showing the same level of high interest: you'll go to Smith if they'll have you. Instead of working on expressing your interest, you should work on portraying exactly who you are and what you will contribute to the campus community.

The whole purpose of ED II is for Smith to catch students who apply ED elsewhere, usually Ivies et al, and don't get in in that round. There was a parent on this board whose D was in exactly that situation, applied ED II, and is very happy there.
