Question about Essay for App...

On the Binghamton University website (Binghamton University - Undergraduate Admissions - Supplemental Application Form (SAF)) it states that:

"SUNY applicants only: Essay required

Freshmen applicants:
Write an essay (1,000 words or less) on one of the following topics:

Life is a process that challenges us to respond, grow and change. Select an experience or event that has challenged you this past year and describe its impact on you.

We learn who we are through relationships with others. Write about an individual who has had a significant influence on you.

We are a global community. Choose a national or international issue and describe its importance to you.

Write on a topic of your choice."

I applied via the Common app and I'm wondering if this essay is actually required. I completed the SAF, and there was no place to upload the essay. Also, it doesn't say anything about submitting the essay to a certain place. When I checked the status of my application, the supplemental essay is not listed as a requirement... Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

wasn’t there an essay for the common app? there is no essay on the SUNY app, so they have to ask for it in the supplement.

if you have ANY doubts it is ALWAYS best to call the admissions office and ask THEM rather than rely on a forum such as this. getting your application right is too important not to make sure you get it right.

The essay on the common app will fulfill that requirement. It’s only referring to the people who used the SUNY app.
