On my acceptance letter it says that I've been awarded the President's scholarship of $22,500 a year, but is this the full financial aid packaged, or just part of it? And if it's only part of it, does anyone know where we can see our full package?

I think (someone correct me if I’m wrong), that you have to go online and fill out some form on Case’s website to supplement the FAFSA.

i havent gotten my acceptance letter yet but on the site i have been accepted. and yes there is a financial aid supplement to the FAFSA on the site. Its under your briefcase but you can oly access it if youve already activated you usename and password stuff. if you havent already its easy and quick to do.

I have been awarded the trustee’s scholarship, at $27,500 per year. Financial aid is calculated after acceptance, once you have filled out both the fafsa and the university’s financial aid form. What confuses me is that I cannot find the estimate the finaid office claims is available immediately after filling out the university form.

To answer the first part of the OP’s question, the scholarships that come with the acceptance letters are merit based aid. Any need based aid is calculated after accounting for merit based aid.

@dweebish1 - same here i filled it out and it wouldnt show me anything. does anyone know whats up with that?

QueenofSheba: Same as you. Now all we can do is review the form we filled out. I guess they have a liberal view of “immediate”.

haha yeah. i just got my letter in the mail. more like a thick package though. I found out online on saturday so i guess the wait is about 6 days? I got the Provosts Scholarship by the way. does anyone know if theres more money to come?

QueenofSheba: What you got in your package is it for Merit Aid.
Need based aid is separate.
That’s really dependant on the cost to attend less Merit Aid, any other scholarships, and your EFC.
I expect nothing from need based aid, but filled out the forms anyway.

I spoke with financial aid today and, if I understood it correctly, financial aid will be posted on Monday. You get to it from the same place you checked your application status. This will reflect financial aid, including any merit scholarships you have already received. It will not include special scholarships you would have applied for separately.

Test this post

Sanford: Thanks for the heads up!

We finally got the Case package in the mail. The merit scholarship was listed in the acceptance letter. Hmmm… I guess we should go read the other stuff in there too.

I got by financial aid package yesterday. It’s nice, but its full of loans. And its also online under the briefCase.

Case gave me a great financial aid package! $50,000 a year- only about 12,000 in loans a year (I had a scholarship and they gave me a good amount of grant money ontop of that and it had a workstudy included) and I have a college account that will cover the loans I will have to take out. I am so happy, I am most likely going to Case now!

^^^
If CWRU gave you a $20K scholarship when you were accepted and your EFC is $4500, how did the rest of the aid fill in the difference?

I’m an international student (US citizen living overseas), so I’m still waiting for the letter to arrive. I logged on to briefCase and here’s my FA package.

Does anyone have an idea what the blank box at the top is?

Well, it’s got to be either a grant or loan as you already have a number for work-study.
I say email or call the FA office to find out for sure.
Congrats!

The rest was filled in through a pretty large grant and a work study. They were very generous.

^^^
I’d agree that they were very generous
If they met your “need” then they came up with a land grant and work study that had to be close to an additional $30K (after your $20K scholarship and $4500 need).
That’s great financial aid for someone with a 30 ACT and 3.25 GPA. Congrats!
