question about grades

does harvard see our quarter 1 grades ?(not semester)

Some high schools will automatically send first quarter grades in, while some high schools won't send them in. Some schools allow you to request sending them. Harvard does not require first quarter grades but will look at them if they are sent in. However, Harvard has been known to ask guidance counselors to fax them first quarter grades in the last two or so weeks of the early admissions process, usually for the reason (I surmise) that they aren't sure about a candidate and want more information. Thus, ESPECIALLY if you think you're borderline for acceptance, keep those grades up (although first quarter may already be over for many of you).

will lower than usual grades on the quarter report card look bad?

no theyll look really good

spydertennisx - LOL

lol. well yea i kno theyll look bad. ok maybe i need to rephrase what i was asking... hmmm....how about this. will lower than usual quarter grades affect getting into college?

no theyll really like that youre a slacker

you crack me up

I think I understand what she's asking. If you have alot of trouble in a subject like science, and it takes you the first quarter to iron it out before you start making better grades, that's understandable.

If it's more of a slacker - that probably would hurt your admissions. If it's because you're obsessing ABOUT admissions and neglecting school ;)

Of course, don't know how they would have any clue which it is...

thanks. that is what i was getting at.

i hope they see our first quarter grades...
