Ok so im Indian (not Native American) and im wondering, what ethinicity thing do I fall under.

Ive talked to some people and they say 'Caucasian/nonhispanic', and others say 'Asian/Pacific islander.

I looked up Caucasian, and caucasian does NOT mean that you are white. People from western india are considered caucasian because caucasian is a type of bone structure,
And im from western India.

Im not white, I have light tan skin, do not have any features of the 'asians' that many people picture, such as 'slanted eyes' (not being racist) so what do I consider myself? Asian or Caucasian?

Indians and Pakistanis usually are classified as Asian. The term “South Asian” is commonly used to distinguish them from East Asians (Chinese, Koreans, etc).

The Common App does not say Caucasian. It says ‘White including Middle Eastern’. Asian includes the ‘Indian subcontinent’. So, you’re Asian in this case. If the form says ‘Caucasian/White’ then that’s not you. In general, i’m pretty sure you’re considered Asian.

India is in Asia. You’re considered Asian by U.S. census standards. Just realize that race is a hypothetical construct and one’s classification depends upon the rules of the country/region determining the classification. There really is only one race: human.

I’m Indian too, applying and I think its fairly obvious that India comes under Asia (atleast the last time I checked :P). GL applying buddy Glad to see Indians on CC!

Asian. Besides, if your name is a traditional Indian name, the AdCom will know that you are Indian. Even more so if you decide to write an essay about it.
