I want to take a French class for an elective credit. I got a 4 on my AP French language test and placed out of FREN 10100-10200-10300. However, I took the placement test during orientation and placed into 20200 Language, History, and Culture II. Since I forgot a lot this past year, I actually want to start with French 10300 or 10200, but I don't know if taking a lower level course would still count as an elective credit since I placed out of it. Can I not use my AP credit and placement results to start at a class I placed out of?

Don't know. Your advisor would, though.
