question about Mid year grades...USC....

Hey so USC asked me for my mid year grade report and I just got my report card and it says ive got 3 Bs and 3 As. My GPA was around 4.5 but now im sure it has lowered significantly.

What do they use the mid year grades for? Are they still considering admission or is this just for rescinding purposes?

Can this spoil my chances?

If you already got accepted then they are just checking up on you. If you got deferred then your grades will definitely impact your chances of getting in. There was a big discussion on colleges rescinding admissions, but the general consensus was a very serious drop was required to have a chance.

well they havent told me if I got in or not, they just asked for the mid year grades

I think it's for considering admission if you haven't been accepted yet. Sending mid-year grades is optional, unless they request it.

Join the club on mid term grades.

They are looking I think for a few things,

Are you continuing to work hard in the classroom or has senioritis crep in.

If you are borderline did any of the core courses get completed at mid term and did that raise or lower your overall GPA.

Is your schedule still what they consider to be college prep and are you continuing in the course load you told them about when you are applied. At my D's HS for whatever reason kids have been dropping Physics and Pre Calc at a visible rate.

Lastly if you fit the profile of a late bloomer is that upward trend in marks continuing and are you peaking in your senior year.

Any, all or none of these things are possible. Hopefully you didn't get many B's in your core courses.
