I'm considering submitting an music supplement (I've played piano for 10 years) with some of my applications (Williams, Duke, Dartmouth, Washington U, Boston College, Bowdoin, Notre Dame, and Vassar). I have around 850 hours of community service playing on my church band, so I'm thinking that it would help me out if i submitted a music supplement. The only problem is that I don't play anything super technical (classical/romantic)... I'm more focused on blues and contemporary stuff. I couldn't submit a sheet music copy of my music because it's all improv. I've been told that I'm pretty good at blues and contemporary, I'm just not sure if it would help or hurt me, especially if I'm going to be compared against kids that have been blastin out mozart for the past 10 years. I'm applying for bio/premed, so music doesnt have anything to do with my career goals (though I am interested in playing in a band or something along those lines in college). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!!

I think classical music tends to what music performance people do, not like covers of pop songs, so I’m not sure how much a music recording of Adele or Lady Gaga or something will do anything. In fact, it may make it seem like you’re all grandiose about something that isn’t a big deal.

However, you mentioned blues–maybe? Just if you display passion and musicality, that should be good Good luck~
