Question about ND Class profile of 2008

I was looking at the statistics of the 2008 class and it says 1% - 6% rank in class. What does this statistic mean? is this the mid 50% in class rankings?!!?!!

thanks!

I think so. A lot of schools don't report rank, though. Don't let the statistics scare you; I wasn't in the "mid 50%" and I still got in (although, I am in the top 10%).

i got in and i am 11%

what if my school doesnt rank?
I'm in the top 25-30% of a class of about 50 kids in a public magnet high school. How do you think that would translate to into terms of adcom?

depends how good the school is.. what kind of schools do the top 20 kids go every year

I would say a good 5-7 go to 7/8-year med, pharmacy, and dental programs.
the rest usually go to Cornell, Columbia, Pomona, Boston College, Tufts and other semi-Ivy schools.

I'm wondering if it would help considering nobody from my school has applied to Notre Dame before. My school is fairly new, about 10 years old, so most of the schools that the students apply to are Ivies and joint med programs. Thanks again!~ and congrats on your acceptance to ND!!!!~

My school doesn't rank either because it's so competitive. (220 per class, and a 30% acceptance rate to get in). Another kid was the first to ever apply from my school, and he applied early action this year and was accepted.(He was an all-state athlete though.) Hopefully the fact that my school doesn't rank will work to my benefit, but who really knows what goes through the admissions committies minds when they select students. Good Luck anyway.

If your school doesn't rank, don't worry about where you stand (assuming you have a good GPA!).
