Question about PSAT cutoff

I live in Florida, and the cutoff for my state is 215 for semifinalist. Does the cutoff mean that everyone above it will definitely be a semifinalist, or is 215 the average for a semifinalist; as in people with 214 or 210 might also be chosen?

no, only those with 215 or higher.
214 wouldn't make it

harsh. D: can't believe ny's cutoff was 219 last year .. i almost made 220 on my practice cb psat today. i'm gonna need some luck this wed!

All right, thanks. So they would take anyone who's 215+, even if there are say 1000 more people this year than in previous years [Probably impossible, but I'm just saying].

The 215 was for the last PSAT - it changes every year based on how people in each state do in the test. Only @ 16,000 people make semifinalist and so if there were lot more people the cut off for that year would go up. So if a lot more people in Florida score high in the 2008 PSAT then the cut off may be higher than 215 for the next semi finalists. (or lower if less people score well)

anybody in PA who wants to qualify has to go through ME, hahahah....JK, you don't have to beat me

Just tell everyone to miss all the questions so the cutoff score would be 600.
sounds good?

NY was 216 this year.............

TX was somewhere around 218 last year, and around 217 before that. As a sophomore I got a 215 last year, ugh. :( I hope I do better this year! :)

So, uh... can all juniors in TX purposely miss every question so that the cutoff can drop to around 180? Please? :D
