So I have a problem. I'm applying for SFS School, and was thinking recommendation should be somewhat similar to area of study? Correct me if I'm wrong. I would like the have a social science teacher write one, however, I don't feel comfortable asking any except for one from 10th grade. I would have a good recommendation from a Chemistry teacher, but should I go ahead and ask the 10th grade history instead?

I don't think it matters that much, though they do recommend, if I remember correctly, a specific department depending on the school you apply to.

The recommendation should come from a teacher that knows you well, because if you think about it, no teacher (hopefully) is going to write a bad/negative recommendation, most are going to be positive. But the ones that stand out are the ones that are not cliche and really demonstrates how well the teacher knows you and therefore the recommendation adds much your to your application than a generic "this person is great and hardworking... blah and blah"

Bottom line, go with the teacher that knows you the best and therefore will write you the best recommendation.

I remember when I applied I asked like 4 different teachers, one for each school I applied to basically. I heard recommendation horror stories, I was so paranoid one of them would backstab me. Gonna do the same thing for grad school. :)

Wait, so Mario, did you send in 4 recs to each school?

No, I divided it up.
