I history of transcations/payments and I paid that initial fee which was actually $10, back in March when I was here for Transfer Orientation. I figure that is why I don’t have a fee now. That is what I’ve been trying to explain as to why I haven’t been charged at least for this semester.

(btw, I’m a she :))

It said FA should disburse on the 4th of September.

Yeah, Financial aid will be available on Tuesday, just like they did it last year. You’ll be able to see everything posted to your account on Blackboard though most likely on Saturday afternoon- or at least that’s typically what I’ve noticed.

The $10 you paid though was just the initial price to get the card:

And then on top of that there’s also the $5/semester card fee:

Well no one I know is getting charged that $5 fee, so I don’t know what to tell you. I even went to the Registrar’s Office and said she’s never heard of such a fee.
I did see that on fsu’s website that you posted. If you want you can call them up or visit them, but I took the long walk and got my answer and left. I don’t have time to keep calling up over a bloody $5 fee. If they don’t let me go to the game bc of this fee that was never posted to my count I don’t really care. Also I called up about the Hold and they told me it was due to Fall tuition. I got all my answers, but if things go wrong I’ll follow up again. Right now I just don’t give a ****.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but you all really seem to know your stuff so I’m hoping you can help me!

I just checked my account statement this morning to make sure my FA paid my tuition and fees, and only my Pell grant has been applied to my account. I also have loans that were supposed to cover the rest, but they have not been processed yet so it is saying I still owe about a thousand for the rest of my tuition and health insurance. Do they usually do these things in stages or should I see everything posted at the same time? I have no alerts or documents to be submitted, so I have no idea what the hold up on my loan would be! Any information you all have would be appreciated!

First off, no need to panic, lots of students will have screwups this week with their financial aid and fees. Did you actually accept the loans that were offered to you in Blackboard toolkit? FSU won’t disburse loan money offered to you unless you indicate acceptance online. I’d email both the FSU Student Financial Services Office and also the FSU Financial Aid Office this weekend and ask them just what you stated above–that way you have a record you notified them about this. Asap after school opens back up Tues, go to both offices and ask for help sorting this out…they’ll be super busy this week and probably won’t have chance to answer any emails during coming week…visit the offices for help. Too, any money disbursed to our FSU Cards probably won’t show up in our bank accts 'til Tues or Wed.

Enjoy the rest of the Labor Day weekend and don’t worry about the money stuff now–you’ll get it sorted out later. Just a few hours until football game…GO SEMINOLES!!!

Everything should be done at the same time. My stuff’s already posted to my account, for example- and yes, my $5 FSUCard Fee for the semester was paid by financial aid.

Did you fill out a Master Promissory Note with the Federal Government? You have to fill out that form before you can receive any student loan disbursements. I don’t think FSU alerts you about whether you need that form filled out or not, because it’s listed- or at least I believe it was at one point- on the Financial Aid Toolkit page in Secure Apps.

Tallalassie also brought up a good point about having to accept the loans in Blackboard (under the Financial Aid Toolkit) before they can be disbursed as well. I would make sure that you had done that already, just in case maybe you forgot to do so.

I definitely accepted the loans on the Financial Aid Toolkit - but I think Pasbal hit the nail on the head in mentioning the Master Promissory Note. I did complete the entrance counseling when they alerted me to do so, but I do not recall ever filling out the MPN. I found where it says you need to complete that in the FA Toolkit, but it is so casually mentioned among several other similar-looking sentences, that it never caught my eye. I wish they alerted us to do that!

I went ahead and completed it, of course. At the end it said my university would be notified within 24 hours that I had completed it. I’m hoping by the time everyone comes back to work on Tuesday they will be able to see it.

Does anyone have any rough estimate of how long this will delay the processing of my loans based on prior experiences? Thanks again for your input. You guys are very helpful.
