Question about Retaking AP Tests

So I have my AP Comp Sci test tomorrow and I am expecting about a 3 on it. Yeah I could say my teacher was crap, but it was my fault for not having the motivation to learn myself until last minute.

Anyway, besides the point of this thread, what I want to know is if I retake it next year, how will it effect my goal of getting AP National Scholar? If I get a 4 or 5 next year, will it just show the higher score when it takes account of the 8 AP tests I need? Or am I going to have to cancel this years score after I take it? Any insight will be helpful, thanks!

Only your highest score from any retaken tests will be considered.

I have a slightly different answer, based on a conversation with a college coach. He said that any and all scores are available to any admissions officer should they choose to look. If they say they only consider the highest or the newest scores, that doesn’t mean that they don’t know about all previous attempts. I wish he was wrong about this, but I have not found anyone to dispute him.
