Question about SAT/ACT score reports?

For the ACT, I remember that we were allowed to select four colleges where we want our scores sent to, and they'll do it for free. So I did that when I took the test in March 2011, and now I'm in the process of applying for colleges.. so do I need to re-send? Or do they already have my scores on file?
Also, I can't remember if I selected any schools for the other time that I took the ACT.. but I want my scores from both test dates sent, the other is from September 2010. Do I need to send that one separately? Or does one score report include all test dates?

And one more question - I took the October SAT and I received my score online a few days ago. I want to submit my common app for University of Michigan by November 1st, but I don't think the score report will reach them in time. is it okay if the school receives my scores later than my application?

Thanks so much - I know that was a lot.

For the first question, colleges get tons of them, so I can’t guarantee they still have yours on file since you didn’t send an application with it. You can check and see what materials they have received for you, including any standardized tests (and the days you took them) on the profiles. Check with that before you try resending anything. You would have to send the individual dated ACT scores. “$10.00 per test date per report” is what it says on their site.

As for your other question, you can send the common app early, and they’ll receive everything else like your ACT/SAT scores, teacher recommendations, transcripts, and all that in time. Say what you got on the common app page, and they’ll also let you know when you receive it; they go by when things are sent/postmarked. If you chose to have Michigan included in the school(s) to send to on your SAT, then you’ll be fine, since they’ll send them there for you.

Hi, im new here, just wanted ask about the clarification to the last post:

does that mean we only need to get the application and supplement for our school in? and if we send the other stuff (transcripts, ACT scores, recommendation letters, etc.) later, it will still be accepted? thanks.

sincerely,
late and panicking

They do everything by the postmark date, not necessarily the date they receive it. For example, if I send my application to a school postmarked October 31st, and the deadline is November 1st, they’ll see that and not count it against me. They do the same with your ACT scores as well if I remember. That said, it’s still important to get it done ASAP. In short:

-You are directly responsible for getting in your application and supplement in before the deadline.

-You are indirectly responsible for the rest. The ACT/SAT scores might not be sent directly by you, but you still have to tell the companies to send them off well before the deadline. If not, you should notify the school that they are on the way.Same goes for the transcripts. If sent postmarked before the deadline, you’ll be fine, but you still want to send them early. If still done before the deadline, they should still accept it, but it might take longer to process though. Be careful, since some schools might not even consider you if you send things late, especially test scores.

You should ask for recommendations very early, because many of them get swamped with recommendations, and might say no to your request-not because they wouldn’t write a good recommendation for you, but because they just don’t have the time. It won’t count against you if sent late, since you’re not directly responsible.

Anything else sent should be done ASAP, and if they can’t make it in time, notify the school. Keep in mind the specifics here will probably vary from school to school, so check with where you’re applying to be sure.
