Question about senior year schedule

Hello,

My son is taking following classes in his senior year next fall.

AP Chemistry
AP literature
AP Environmental Science
Epidemiology (1st semester)
Genetics(2nd semester)
Psychology
Calculus 1 (dual enrollment)

He wants to major in Biochemistry or Biology with a pre-med track. I was wondering if AP environmental science would be beneficial for him or not. I would really appreciate any reply. Thanks.

Amber

What would he take instead of APES? Is he interested in the class? Has he taken any Biology or Physics classes?

Thanks for your reply. He took Honors Bio in 10th grade. In his junior he is taking AP Bio, Anatomy and Physiology, and Honors physics. He wants to take Biochemistry or Biology as a major in college.

If he is interested in APES, then it would not hurt him in the long run. Has he taken any Foreign Language classes and if so, how many years? Regarding FL and APES, much depends upon what type of schools he is targeting. Most competitive schools would like to see 3-4 years FL and 3-4 years Science. He has more than fulfilled the science requirement so APES should be a fairly easy AP class for Senior year but a bit of overkill with the Epidemiology/Genetics courses.

Thanks for your reply. He took Spanish for 2 years. I just found out about that after scheduling that now you should take it for more than 2 years. He took it Spanish 1 in 8th grade and Spanish 2 in 9th so there is a gap too now. I am worried about that. He is oldest so I don’t have too much knowledge about all this. Their counselor don’t tell them all those things unless u ask them.
