On the Online Application status webpage, my status is listed as "Candidate*
*When you submit your application you become a “Prospect.” When USAFA processes your application you become an “Applicant.” Should USAFA deem you competitive and you receive a nomination, you will become a “Candidate.” Also, I was reading the Catalog that came with the Kit, and in that it also stated that a status of “Candidate” is a “pre-candidate who has a nomination in an authorized category”. I haven’t gotten a nomination, so how can i be listed as Candidate if I do not meet the correct definition? Any help clearing this up would be appreciated.

I've been listed as a canidate too ever since the sent out my application package.

Not entirely sure about the candidate/tentitive candidate. I think you become an official candidate with a nomination and a tentitive candidate without one.

I too dont have a nomination yet but am listed as candidate.

Yeah that's probably correct. They may just not put tentative or qualified for whatever reason

I was wondering about that because mine says candidate also.

If you don't have a nomination, wouldnt your status be
"Canidate" with a bullet saying tentative? I'm thinking they go ahead and place people who have a potential to get a nomination in the "Canidate" list.

That could be possible, but I was thinking they just clumped any people who are any type of "Candidate" into just plain old "Candidate" on the website.

I think you're exactly right. I wouldn't read anything into it at this point.
