Question about superscoring

I got a 740 on my math and 670 on reading/writing on the SAT. Say I want to focus on reading/writing so I can bring that grade up and super score. Let’s say I get a 720 on reading/writing next time I take it, but a 500 on the math (because I don’t need a good math score with the super score). Will colleges see that I got a 500 on the math or will they just see the 740 and 720. Also, do I need to send my essay score or no?

There’s score choice where for some schools you can select your scores based on sittings for the test. But if you want them to see your 740 on Math, that sitting also shows the 670. Lots of top schools including most ivies want all your scores, so you can’t select. All will superscore and transcribe your top scores onto a template, so superscore. I agree with your approach. Try not to take the test more than twice. Use your Math and focus on reading now and hope to get that up. In the end, they will superscore. If you got a 740 on Math, in my student’s experience, the second time she took it to get her Reading score up, her Math score stayed the same.

But if I am applying to a college that accepts superscores, are they able to access all scores for all sittings, or can they only view the best ones? Someone once told me that if they are deciding between students they will go back and look at all scores, I dont know if this is true though.
