Question about Supplements Topics

I’m having trouble differentiating between these two essay topics.

"Tell us where you have lived - and for how long - since you were born; whether you’ve always lived in the same place, or perhaps in a variety of places. (100 word limit)

We all exist within communities or groups of various sizes, origins, and purposes; pick one and tell us why it is important to you, and how it has shaped you. (150 word limit)"

Does the first just focus on your home or your community? and is the second about your community also? They seem very similar to me. Can somebody help me tell the difference? please.

Also I want to apply to engineering so the first question asks.

“Why are you drawn to the area(s) of study you indicated in our Member Section, earlier in this application? If you are “undecided” or not sure which Brown concentrations match your interests, consider describing more generally the academic topics or modes of thought that engage you currently. (150 word limit)”

Then later it asks this.

"1. Many applicants to college are unsure about eventual majors. What factors led you to your interest in Engineering? (Feel free to elaborate on one of your earlier responses.) "

Is the first question more general and then the second where you go into detail on it?

I appreciate any help.

Just treat those supplement questions as extra space for you to show them who you are  what do you want them to know about you? just don’t repeat the same thing in both, but treat it as a place to expand on what you stand for.

So you think it would be a good idea to talk about my neighborhood in the first question then talk about my group of friends in the second question? I think I can make some good essays out of that. Thanks for the help :)
