Brown supplement seems to have 2 prompts asking the same thing, why are you interested in....(field). How to deal with that? By the way, does Brown accept more international students(comparatively, in ratio) than other Ivys except H.Y.P? Thanks in advance.

Hi Yanchen

My S is presently doing the Brown Supplement as well. I agree the 1st and 2nd Short responses could potentially overlap. I’d recommend focusing the 1st on Brown itself, and the second on your field of study.

The Essay topics are self-explanatory - don’t repeat anything is the supp essay that’s already in the commonapp essay.

Thanks.I guess what truly overlap are the second and third one. The third one is like
"Additional essays for applicants to specific programs
- Many applicants to college are unsure about eventual majors. What factors led you to an interest in the field of science you have selected?

What experiences beyond school work have broadened your interest in this field?

What concept in your anticipated major were you most proud of mastering?

Briefly describe the course(s) you have taken relating to your chosen field of science. "

It’s in the additional essays column, I guess I could only talk about the same thing in question 1,2 and essay Prompt 2. That’s freaking me out @^@!

The second one is only 1,000 characters right? I remember the second one was so short that I was really happy that I had that additional essay to continue writing.

I’d just try and make the second one a summary, and really dig in deep for the third, 500-word one.

Wow. good. Thanks a lot. I hope that would help.
