Question about the second essay.

For the "Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and dual degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan. How would that curriculum support your interests?" essay . . .

Can I write about my interest in the Michigan Learning Communities and the Undergraduate Research Program?

I had the same question! I just ended up writing a part of my essay about it… But less than a paragraph.

I took a different approach on the essay which I hope doesn’t ruin my chances. Essentially I wrote about the personal ties that I have with Michigan, then juxtaposed it with their reputation as a world leader in education and research. Next I elaborated on the opportunities outside of the classroom and the recognized faculty. I tied that into why education is important to me and what Michigan would do for me as a transfer student. Lastly, I added an appreciative note about their involvement with student veterans, only because without their support (yellow ribbon program) I probably would not choose to go there because it would not be financially feasible.

I feel that this is the best essay to truly speak from your heart because it tells them why YOU want to go to them; in turn that helps to distinguish why THEY should pick you.
