Ok so I began filling out a TAG form for UC Davis yesterday. Right now I'm at the part where you have to put all the classes you have taken, and I wanted to know that if you also have to put the classes you took as prerequisites to get to college level classes. For example, I have to take two english classes to get to college level english, and one for college level math. Since the the prerequisites are not college level do they still have to be put on the application? My counselor said those classes don't count since they're not college level, but the application says I must put all the classes I've taken. My gpa is a 3.21 (so I'm literally just on the line on being qualified for the TAG), and when I put the grades for the prerequisites it brings my gpa down to a 3.18, hence making ineligible for the TAG. I'm really worried about this because Davis is one of my top choices, and if I can't the TAG I don't see myself getting in any other way. What do I do?

Another thing about the prerequisite courses is that they’re non-transferable, so thats another thing to take in mind.

why are you putting those classes in? you don’t put those in, they’re not transferable. just put the transferable classes in

Put everything in… there’s an option to add a class that is not Assist-certified and is not listed :)

^ I was told you ARE supposed to put non-transferable classes in.

. . .

Now I need re-clarification.

Hey everyone, here is the exact text on the TAG page:

"List all colleges/universities you have attended, including University of California campuses and any institutions outside the United States. Be sure to list all institutions you attended - regardless of length of attendance, whether courses were completed or whether you believe the record will affect your chances for a TAG with a UC TAG campus.

List in chronological order all college and university courses (including summer session and extension courses) for all terms you have attempted or completed (including courses you repeated or in which you earned an F, I for incomplete, or W for withdrawal), regardless of grade, length of attendance or whether you think the courses will affect your chances for a TAG. Enter your grades exactly as they appear on your records. Refer to grade reports and transcripts; do not work from memory. Be sure to include any courses that are currently in progress or planned for future terms."

ALL courses.

They’ll know what’s transferable or not when they add you to their system.

Alright so I guess then everything goes. I’m still worried though because my gpa drops lower than the minimum requirement for the TAG when I add the non-transferrable courses. I hope it doesn’t affect my chances.

Nope, TAG GPA requirement is only counted from ASSIST-certified courses (a.k.a UC transferable courses as far as I’m concerned), so your overall GPA (including the remedial non-transferable courses) are not used.

Yeah, Sparkyboy is correct. You know why because UC schools don’t trust the classes CCs make up even if they seem legit to us. Like that one course offered at most CCCs, “Underwater Basket Weaving”.

I know it’s a bummer to have to add all those classes. I have over 200 units going back to 1973 (I am 58) and I have entered every single class I ever took, even all the W’s, Incompletes, and P/NP classes. They really mean for you to enter everything.

Thank you guys for everything. I just updated my application and put all my classes. Now its just a waiting game. I hope all goes well and I get in.

Do you guys believe questions like: do you speak another language at home besides English? etc. have any affect on our eligibility at all?

Movingunit,

I don’t think those questions matter in the decision because they say on the page,

“Any information you provide in this section will be used for statistical analysis only. The information will not be used in the evaluation of your TAG application, nor will it be shared with your community college or the UC TAG campus to which you are applying”

I’m actually leaving out the portion that says income because I don’t know how to get those numbers.

oh okay, thanks a lot of swagandtag.

i’m sorta confused about this now. when we report the grades on our TAG, how does the school we are applying to verify?

i have a question, do you think my tag for ucr will be rejected if i have a 2.94 gpa right now? and lastly for courses this fall you dont put the grades you expect you just put ip(in progress) right?
