Can't TAG to Davis?

So I just finished my summer course with a B, of course.

This leaves me with a 3.25 gpa, i'm .05 away from an engineering tag.

Is there anything at all that I can do in this situation?

I will finish all the prereqs by the end of the spring if that means anything.

How strict is their policy? if I include my non assist certified courses, I have a 3.3 flat..

They are pretty strict. Sorry. Unless the class is UC transferable, that GPA will not count.

There might be a few classes that start and end early. I had a friend last year that was in the same situation as you, very close to a 3.3 but not quite there. He took a random class that ended before the TAG needed to be submitted which boosted his GPA to a 3.3.

Browse your catalog or talk to a counselor who might have an easier time finding a class that ends before TAG applications are due. That should give your GPA the boost it needs.

What do you mean by “non assist certified courses”? I think they consider your overall GPA, don’t they? Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t an overall 3.3 make you eligible?

@SBVett: I took a programming course that is apparently non UC transferable, if that course is included in my overall gpa i have a 3.30, without it I have a 3.25. My understanding is that they only take into account the UC transferable courses.

@Robelius: The tag submission period is from sept 1-30, and my classes start on August 26, I don’t think there are any courses that are that short.

So, if I can’t get a tag, what sort of chance will I have assuming that after fall i’ll have a 3.35-3.42 gpa, somewhere around there, with all prereqs done?

Ok, I only asked because some courses are UC transferable even if they are not listed on assist. This is usually noted on your cc’s catalog along with the description for that class. Either way, you have to list all your coursework in the application, so you will have to list that one, too. Worst case scenario, they will reject your tag and you will apply non tag later on.

I know my CC offers a few random classes that end before the Sep 30 deadline. I just assumed yours did too. Sorry about that.

I would say your chance at getting in with a 3.35-3.42 GPA with all pre-reqs done is high. I wouldn’t worry if I was you. If it dropped to the 3.1 territory then I would start to worry.
