We've read the website numerous times and can't figure this out. Do you have to call and register for tours and info sessions (not special visitor days, mind you).

There is a number, but it could also be interpreted that the number is to register to visit a particular college.

We will be in the area next week, and may just show up and take our chances.

Another point, besides university tour. You can call the individual college and ask to see someone from the program you’re interested in. At least you’ll have a chance. We did that for poly sci (a year ago for son), and for engineering & architecture in March (for our daughter - junior in high school).

For son, I sent an e-mail on a Sunday night to a poly sci prof (found on website), and got an immediate answer. Eventually, we arranged on a date time during admitted students day. We (mom/dad/2 kids) had a private meeting with the chair of poly sci, and one of the student advisors went over the course list with my son.

For daughter, made three phone calls - 1 to arrange tour of SU; 2 to admissions office for engineering; 3 to admissions office of architecture. She got the appointments she wanted. When we visited, she met an admissions officer in Link Hall (eng), got a complete top to bottom tour (including massive structures lab), and had a 20 minute 1 on 1 with a civil eng professor. In architecture, they arranged for a tour of Slocum (again, top to bottom) with a sophomore, then we had a private meeting with an arch admissions officer along with a junior in arch.

With daughter, the tour and info session were about an hour or so. Arch was about an hour. Eng was about 1 1/2 hours.

As I mentioned in my OP, I have read that page—again, what isn’t clear is: is an appt needed for a tour/info session, or for the visit to a particular college.

Website needs to be edited for clarity by the Eng. dept!!!
