Hi I’m planning on applying to wustl(aka WashU) as early decision.
I’m planning on applying for the School of Arts & Sciences (for psychology) because although I want to major Marketing, I thought the arts&sciences division would be less competitive. Would it be easier to transfer to the Olin school of business after I get in? (if not, at least double major)
Also, btw, I’m an international student applying for financial aid. If I transfer, will my aid support me throughout?
Thanks a lot!
First of all, I wouldn’t make the assumption that it’s easier to gain admission to WashU if you applied to Arts and Sciences instead of Olin. A 16% acceptance rate is pretty poor odds.
What are your grades/standardized test scores?
It’s relatively easy to take classes across different disciplines. You don’t officially declare a major until your sophomore year.
WashU isn’t the most generous when it comes to need based financial aid. Combine that with being an international student and that will be a reach.
My scores are:
GPA 4.95
SAT 1510
ACT 33
TOEFL 113
Thank you for answering. Sad to hear about the financial aid part, but you didn’t answer my question about whether my aid will follow me throughout my transfer. Thanks once again.
Unless it’s a scholarship that is specific to the school in question, there should be no problem.
I disagree that Wash U isn’t generous with need-based aid. Their institutional calculation is a bit more stringent than other schools, yes; however, they do meet 100% of your calculated need. In addition, they provide no-loan packages for the poorest students. This is much better than the vast majority of schools across the nation.
