Question about transfer orientations

So I've got a flight at 9:30 out of LAX..haven't figured out how I'll get there from campus, but it looks like I'll have to leave orientation quite early

What will I be missing? I read another thread and someone said they signed up for classes at 8. So it seems like I could miss that, which is pretty huge. Any suggestions?

Use your laptop at LAX... if you must, pay for their wifi... might be unnecessary though seeing that you're upper-division... what's your major? It might not matter so much... like, if you're History or English, it's not too hard to get into classes... as opposed to Political Science (which is an absolute nightmare for registration).

By now, I think you've been assigned an Orientation Counselor. Is it listed somewhere on your MyUCLA?

I'm a Math/Econ major and was hoping to get into Econ11. I'm assuming there'd be a lot of people trying to get into that.

I'm looking on MyUCLA, but I'm not sure if I'm looking in the right place...I don't see it

OK, I lied then! When is your orientation and in what order is it relative to the other sessions?

For what it's worth, assuming that you would register for classes at 8pm whatever, you'd still have time between that session and the next transfer orientation to sign up for classes. I highly doubt that the differential - a few hours from the ~8pm time and the few hours it takes you to fly home (assuming you're on the West Coast) will be the difference between getting into Economics 11 or any other UPPER-DIVISION NON-POLI-SCI-ESQUE course. That and assuming you're the last person to enroll in a transfer orientation (whose size, by the way, is much smaller than the freshmen orientations), you have the time between that O-session and the next transfer session to enroll.

If things are just in complete disarray and you're desperate - I would start sending emails to professors about their Waitlist and PTE# policies. I doubt it'll get that bad... at least you're not POLI SCI!

Thanks for the help mme-line!

I'm in orientation 204 which I understand is one of the last (hopefully not the last?) orientation session. There are three sessions prior to it.

I'll probably just hop onto my laptop at LAX like you suggested and also e-mail the professors.

You can ask your OC to do it and they may be nice enough. I also left transfer orientation early last year to catch the last flight back home and told my counselor, and he was a really nice guy and did it for me at 8PM.
