I know someone who was accepted to penn state last year but opted to go to another school instead. it was just as good of a school, but not in PA. (where we're both from) he decided in the first semester he didn't like it and would rather go to penn state. so he sent his app in and now he's trasnferring there and moving in this semester. (2nd) how does that work...i thought you had to go to a school for 2 years before you could transfer
is it because he was accepted last year? i asked him but he said he didn't think that had anything to do with it

not that I'm trying to be smart or nething, but if he got in, there obviously wasn't a problem in the first place! every college has different transfer policies, however, so I suppose it would depend on where you're going and from where you're coming

No. That 2 year rule applies to students in a PSU branch campus transferring in to Main Campus. If you come from a different university (not Penn State anything) then you can transfer whenever you want.

really? haha then why doesnt everyone just do that

actually, i checked the website. it says you need 18 credits and more than 1 semester of college. but then on another page is says this: "Transfer students to Penn State University Park must have taken two years of full-time college coursework before the time of transfer. Some programs have additional requirements that are noted below."

soo...i'm guessing it's because he was already previously accepted there? it's the only thing that makes sense

Because main campus is the ****.

yeah but if you could transfer there from any school after 1 semester..then i'd rather do that then wait 2 years at a branch

but then you risk not having all your credits being able to transfer over to Penn State, which is pretty lame at giivng out credits to classes/AP's taken prior to attending.

"Because main campus is the ****."

Lil_killer129, so true.

cwryan, that is extremely true. is there any way you would be able to know which credits they would accept so that you can take them?

Check here PennState : MyPennState

That tool will show you the PSU equivalents to courses taken at other Universities. Remeber that if you take a course at a PSu brance, all credits transfer when you move to main campus.
