Transfer to PSU Main Campus

A friend of mine is currently a freshman at another university and would like to transfer to PSU's main campus at University Park next year. Is it possible to transfer to the Univ. Park campus after only one year (~30 credits) at another school? PSU's admissions website says that you must have 2 years (~60 credits) of college work to transfer to Univ. Park. Does anyone know if this is a strictly enforced policy? Does this mean my friend would have to transfer to a branch campus like Altoona for one year before transferring to Univ. Park? Thanks.

Can anyone tell me a good story about wolves?

Is this friend in fact you?? ;-]
Well, I don't see obstacle preventing "your friend" from contacting the admissions committee directly. All we can do here is speculate. Although the website says 2 years are required, if this friend of yours has a good GPA, he/she may be able to convince them to make an exception.

What school is he/she intending to transfer from and why?

No, it isn't me. My "friend" is at Univ. of Pittsburgh, and is finding that he would prefer more of a "college town" environment rather than an urban campus. I think contacting the admissions office directly is a good idea to see how strictly they enforce the 2-year rule. Thanks.

Now, about those wolves ...

*sorry, In the midst of all the keyboard clicking, I left out an "any" before "obstacle" in the above response. UDbluehen, do you attend psu yourself? Anyways, I myself am also curious whether they would make an exception and permit your friend to apply as a transfer. Well, good luck with all your endeavors.

I despise urban campuses just as intensely.

My d had a friend who transferred to UP from another college for his sophomore year.

Do you happen to know how the friend went about it?

I know of someone who transferred to UP for the Spring semester of his sophomore year. I honestly do not know any other details except that he's a very good student.

yeah you need 60 credits, or 2 years college work, strictly enforced.

IF you have 15-18 credits, you can apply as a first year student to UP, but it's basicaly about HS work. Your put in the pool with HS seniors

hope this helps
meelan

Maybe if you have a bunch of AP credits, you might have sophomore status even though you are only a freshman.

I know certain majors will get you into UP as a sophomore, but does anyone happen to know what they are? Honestly, I'd like to get into there myself. Being instate it would save a lot of money. To me, as a transfer, their policy is very inconvenient. But for all I know, UP offers an exclusive program that interests me. I just don't want to waste money applying for nothing.
