I'm a freshman at Duke looking to transfer to Columbia. I was thinking about applying for sophmore admission but i am worried about my low HS GPA, so I'm thinking about waiting until next year to apply.

If I apply for sophmore admission and am rejected, can I reapply to transfer as a junior? Or does Columbia look down upon this?

If you got into Duke, and since Columbia is similiar acadewmically, then I would say you have a good chance for sophmore standing. Make sure you justify your reasons for needing Columbia w/o saying stuff like "I love New York" or "I want culture". Be specific, and have academic reasons and you should get in, especially because both schools are similar academically, but different in overall college lifestyle.

Remeber, even if the admission rate for transfer is 5% or w/e, they have to accept SOMEONE, so just try and make yourself that person. Bes of lck

Yes, if you are not admitted as a sophomore transfer, you can re-apply as a junior. There is a limit to the total number of times you can apply, which I believe is three. So if you applied as a high school senior to be a freshman, that would be once. I am sure you can look up the exact policy.
