Question about waitlisting?

What exactly happens if you get wait listed? If you get waitlisted, will you know whether or not you got accepted for your second major if you applied for one of the more difficult majors (i.e. engineering, architecture, etc..)?

If you are waitlisted, then you have not been admitted. Once they hear back from all of the people who were admitted, and determine they still have spaces then they would go to the waitlist to start admitting more people to try to fill the needed spaces.

In the case of the tougher majors…if you get called off the waitlist it will most likely be for a second choice as engineering, architecture, et al never seem to have a problem attracting enough students.

My daughter was waitlisted last year. She found out when regular admissions were given. She asked to stay on the wait list and deposited elsewhere.

She really did not expect to get admitted. On May 4th, she was called and offered admission to VT. She accepted and is now a very happy and successful freshman at VT.
