<p>Hi, I go to a Canadian school and in my school we cannot take AP courses until 12th grade. I am going to be taking 6 next year, but I am worried about applying to colleges. Am I going to be disatvantaged because my weighted gpa and my unweighted gpa are the same since I will not have completed any AP courses at the time of applying?</p>
<p>I think colleges can tell the difference between unweighted and weighted, and they may somehow understand your school's system and realize that you cannot take APs until senior year. If your unweighted GPA is okay, then there is nothing to worry about</p>

<p>Your GC-equivalent (or the person who fills in the GC form) should probably mention this limitation that AP courses are only allowed in the 12th grade, and then you will be fine because this is an issue that is outside your control. If you're really concerned, however, you can write a letter of explanation about your lack of AP classes.</p>
<p>6 is a LOT of APs</p>
<p>If you can, have a counselor or teacher explain about the AP policy in a rec letter. You'll also be telling most colleges what your current, 12th grade classes are, so they'll see your dedication (6 APs when lots of seniors "take it easy" will be impressive, so no worries). Does your school have honors courses at all?</p>
<p>Colleges should know about your high school curriculum, and having such dedication as a senior will be impressive.</p>
