question for AdmissionsDaniel, or anyone who knows

I was wondering how applying to a double degree program (Hopkins/Peabody) might affect chances for acceptance at either school. i.e., would applying to Peabody give someone an advantage when applying to Hopkins, or would it put them at a disadvantage? I realize this is a fairly unique concern, but I was hoping you might be able to help me anyways. Thanks!

I can only speak from the JHU Admissions point-of-view (not Peabody) but there is no explicit policy that your "chances" will be impacted positively or negatively by applying to both Hopkins and Peabody & for the double-degree program. What I mean is that double-degree applicants are not at a disadvantage/advantage as they are reviewed the same way any other applicant is reviewed, and I assume that is true for Peabody admissions too.

Now obviously when JHU Admissions is reviewing your file your music "resume" and interests will be factors, and extracurriculars passions and unique experiences can always help.

Simply though, you must be admitted through the JHU Admissions review, the Peabody admissions review, and then the joint review for double degree. It is a difficult process as you are applying to two highly selective schools, and also pursuing a unique program of study that we need to make sure you are prepared for.

Hope that answers your question.

thanks so much! your response was extremely helpful.
