Son just completed GAAP weekend and considering McDonough vs ND (Mendoza) vs UVA (McIntire). Had many questions answered but too awkward to ask Dean why the school fell in the recent Bloomberg poll and why it is so comparatively low as compared to these 2 other schools. Obviously no rankings are absolute, but just curious and appreciate any insight.

I am facing the same problem, actually. I’ve been admitted to McDonough, UVA, UMich, and couple of other universities with b-schools, and cannot understand why GT is below 10 on the rankings. It seems like a hard university to get into plus has great opportunities for its students.

i’d really like to know the answer to this question as well…why is it ranked low when it’s such a prestigious university?

I am interested in this as well!!! i read lots of reviews for the business school, there’s a mix of opinions on the business school.
also, how is MSB’s connections to wall street?
how are ross, mcintire, and MBS in terms of job placement and internship opportunities? How helpful is the career center?

Institutional resources (read: endowment, salaries, etc.) is a big part of it. There was a boost when the Hariri building opened, but other schools are have other big initiatives of their own coming online. Also, the MBA program’s ranking acts as something of a drag in terms of reputation. Georgetown’s focus has historically been on undergraduate teaching, whereas MBAs have been the driver of business school’s reputations and prestige.

georgetown certainly has a great MBA program though.

Michigan and UVA are around the same spot, so depending on tuition and external factors exogenous to salary, take your pick.

Also, don’t concern yourself with ranking as much. Believe me, once you get out of high school ranking matters, but in a different way than it is perceived before entering college.

Lol UVa is ranked #4 while McDonough is ranked #6? On average, McDonough students will get paid more though.
