Question for current students in Engineering

I'm currently working on my supplement essay but I really don't know how to attack the prompt. I have another friend who is also applying to Cornell Engineering and we have pretty conflicting views. I would love to have some guidance about how some of you all interpreted or handled the prompt.

How did you interpret the Supplement prompt? Did you write about an invention you wanted to create, a tool you wanted to improve?

I understand the prompt is left vague to see what an individual is like. I would just like some advice from people who were successful. Thanks

I agree…I’ve been staring at this prompt for quite a while…BUMP

Read it carefully - doesn’t it say you can write about your “interest in an engineering field”? My son wrote about why he was choosing the field he’s in and why. He referenced things he’d learned in the past and plans he has for his future. You don’t need to come up with some great engineering innovation -
