Questions for you Georgettown folks:
1. Is there a marching band and/or pep band and are they 'no cut'?
2. Is the campus diverse? Is it a comfortable place for middle class black students?
3. Is the feel of the school more elitist or more welcoming?
Thanks!

There is a pep band, and I don’t know their policies, but they advertised like crazy to get people to join, so I can’t imagine they’re too exclusive.
The campus is diverse in some ways, less diverse in others. It is very white, but there are people from all over the world that are as visible as anybody else. I can’t imagine anyone would feel uncomfortable here (and we do have plenty of students that identify as middle class and black, if that’s a large concern). If you’re very active about your identity, there are a lot of organizations that promote diversity.
I’ve found the campus to be very welcoming. It depends on which school (COL, SFS, MSB, NHS) you’re in and which classes you’re in, but the “Georgetown image” is anything but cutthroat. We take a lot of pride in being Hoyas and we all connect over that.

Basically, the diversity and welcoming nature of Georgetown are the two main reasons I actually chose it.
