Question for ED applicants who were accepted

I am very familiar with how ED works and that it is binding. I have a question for current students who applied ED and got accepted: how CLOSE was your financial offer (cost of attendance) to HMC’s Net Price Calculator, assuming you ran the NPC before applying? In other words, were you surprised by the fin aid package you received?

It was pretty accurate for my son…

@ClaremontMom THANK YOU for your reply! Do you recall how much time they gave you to give an answer? In other words, if the package was unaffordable, is there time to submit apps to other RD schools?

My son actually did ED 2 so he had already submitted his RD apps. However, we received our package about 1 week after the admissions decision (which was 1 week earlier than originally posted on the website). So assuming your RD deadline is Jan 1 and assuming same kind of timing, it looks like you would have a small window of time.

Good luck!

Ah, I had completely forgotten that HMC had 2 ED cycles. That may be the way to go! Thanks!

If your student isn’t ready for ED 1 (either not ready to commit or application not ready) then, yes, ED2 is the way to go. However, if your student is, then I say go for ED 1—I wish my son had been ready. It would have made winter break a lot nicer and saved us all those additional application fees! But in the end, he will be a Mudder in the fall and we couldn’t be more pleased!
