We saw cute rainboots and raincoats at lots of stores in College Station for the girls, but what do the boys do when it rains? My son be on his bike a lot, so I don't see how an umbrella would be much help. Maybe a raincoat or poncho? But his feet will still be soaked!

It's current STORMING at our house and has made me curious.

How about a reply from the mom of a male student? My son has a pair of waterproof Timberland’s. He wore them his first year of college in Colorado and they should work equally well for any Texas downpours.

I’m a female student at A&M… no kids or anything… but I dnt see the problem with guys wearing ponchos… just take it off when he makes it to class… even ponchos leave u wet in some places depending on the intensity of the rain…If its raining I doubt he’s gonna be the only one who is wet… also he could also bring a spare pair of jeans/tshirt on those days it rains like crazy… but that could become a hassle if he lives off campus… just make sure he wears dark colors when it rains so the wet spots wont look so bad

just buy a water proof jacket. ponchos are too cumbersome. When on a bike, his feet are gonna be soaked no matter what. It’s just one of the awesome things of being a college student.

I would say just make sure he has a good umbrella… or three… they tend to get misplaced. Pretty sure I loaned one to a guy in my dorm at the beginning of the Fall and forgot about it haha.

I don’t know about the bike thing, since I survived my first year without a bike, and don’t plan on getting one. I would say just walk on days it’s excessively rainy. Also maybe it’s the fact that it’s been years since I rode a bike, but riding a bike in the rain seems like asking for an embarrassing wipeout.

Honestly I can get from pretty much any Point A to any Point B on campus within 10 minutes if I’m walking quickly. I vote just walk with an umbrella, it’s what most kids will be doing. (Plus wearing a jacket that can get wet if it’s cold)
