hi, im an incoming freshman and i was wondering if there's any downside to taking econ-205 this semester, and taking 203 next semester. do most people usually take 203 first (or are concepts from 203 required in 205)?

the reason why i am wondering is because the 205 class would fit in my schedule better.

i remember when i was registering for econ, my advicer said it doesnt matter, so you can definitely take econ205 first, which is what i’m doing next year too~!

really? sweet, im going to do that too then. thanks!

if any current marshall students would like to chip in…

econ 203 w/ mangum or econ 205 w/ al sabea?

Yeah it doesn’t really matter. A ton of people do 205 first because 203 fills up. But another option you could do is to take one (or both) of them during the summer as they are one of the few classes that Marshall allows you to do outside USC for credit.

hmm if you were to take them in the summer (after freshman year, i’m assuming), then what classes would you fill your 1st semester freshman year with? GEs? honestly, the only reason why i’m trying to take 205 is because i heard al-sabea is easier, and i think i should ease myself into the college life (and it fits into my schedule better too. haha)

if you place out of econ , calc and stat from APs - what classes would you take freshman year? Anyone have any idea?

BUAD 304, 307, 310, 250ab
GEs
Languages
Electives
Start a Minor or another Major

I had a friend basically test out of those classes too, the math & econ classes.
Basically, he told me that people just get their GE’s out of the way so they’re free to take other classes or “get ahead”.

Whatever floats your boat!
