Southern accents can be extremely attractive if done right. Much better than the valley accent. Please, College Admission Gods, get me out of California.

Urmmmm… Everyone I know calls it the Civil War, I only heard it called the War of Northern Aggression as a joke… and then you’ll hear some people calling it the War Between the States, since the country wasn’t technically a country at the time. South Carolina had already seceded, so we were technically our own entity.

But everyone I know calls it the Civil War. I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t call it that.

I’m from Texas and i have never heard anyone call the Civil war the war of Northern Aggression. I’m OK with living here because while y’all are freezing your asses off we’re just chilling in 80 degree weather.

Here in Alabama it is called the Civil War.

P.S. I’ve lived A LOT of places and there are some really smart people and some really stupid people everywhere. But for the most part, people here (and everywhere) are overwhelmingly average.

Southerners really are at a disadvantage when they speak in the United States, 'cause as soon as we open our mouths, people think “Idiot” and stop listening to what we’re saying.

Southerners actually speak in a slow, clear tone, but that apparently bugs yankees. Personally, I don’t get it, but whatever.

There are smart and dumb people everywhere and non-southerners need to get off their high horse if they think they’re so much better than us.

We’re also friendlier and in general I think we’re less racist.

A girl from my HS went to Auburn and now calls it the WONA

^^^ True. 10char.

Everyone knows that there are no smart people in the south.

Clear is in the ear of the beholder.

And I’m okay with living in Minnesota because we don’t say y’all and in the summer its 75 and sunny every day instead of 100. Plus we have hockey and snowboarding here. And we don’t have a governor that wants to allow guns on college campuses.

The south is definitely more racist. That isn’t even debatable.

While maybe not with race, I’ve found the south to be much more friendly and accepting as a whole than the double-standard laced north. I can’t believe Minnesotaguy’s audacity; in decrying the south he is doing exactly what he says the south is guilty of.

See: this thread

You are so ignorant.

And what the hell is wrong with saying “y’all”? It makes perfect sense.

You’re from Minnesota which is 92% white. I’m from South Carolina which is 30% black. Do not tell me that we are more racist. It is completely debatable.

That’s not how racism works…

“The south is less racist than the north”

Yeah the whole ‘colored humans as property’ thing was just a practical joke.

When you put something in quotes, usually it’s something someone actually said. Surely an enlightened northerner such as yourself knows this.

[Quotation mark - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href=“Quotation mark - Wikipedia”>Quotation mark - Wikipedia)

Congratulations, you have the ability to look up quotation marks on Wikipedia. This thoroughly disproves what I have stated. Alas, I am utterly defeated.

You live in a state which actually seceded from the Union to protect its right to own black people and went to war against the United States because we didn’t believe in that. It’s not debatable. Also in SC is Bob Jones University which only started allowing interracial dating in 2000. The south also includes Ole Miss (stupid name) who’s greek houses still don’t offer bids to black people. The only respectable region of the south is Hot-lanta and southern Florida. And y’all makes you sound like a hick. It’s not a real conjunction, you guys made it up.

soyeah: When you put something in quotes, usually it’s something someone actually said.

HarryJones provides alternative uses of quotation marks in order to be annoying.

soyeah is sarcastically sarcastic.
