Well I overheard a bunch of my fellow classmates talking about them taking a few exams to place them in classes in college. My question is that do all colleges make students go through this or can you pick your own classes? I already sent in my deposit and haven't heard of anything regarding which classes to pick yet.

At most college orientations, time is set aside to take placement exams in usually math and a in a foreign language. This way, when you register for classes (takes places during orientation) they can advise you which level courses you should be taking. After all, why would you want to be bored in a class if you already know that stuff?

Well some can argue that taking a course that you might have taken in HS (AP) can be a nice GPA booster
