<p>By that, do they mean </p>
<p>A) WHY you are applying to Rice's school of art/music/engineering/social sciences, as in "Why Rice in particular" type of question,</p>
<p>or</p>
<p>B) WHY do you want to study art/music/engineering/social sciences? How should you interpret the question? Thanks.</p>
<p>I was not sure about that either...I ended up writing about both, but obviously I went over the limit by a fair amount. I hope they don't mind that.</p>
<p>What is the limit? There isn't a word count indicated, so what happens if you just attach a sheet? Or do you just consider the actual spacing a limit?</p>
<p>Hey... I'm a freshman at Rice and I know my roommate and I both interpreted the question as B... "Why do you want to study art/music/engineering/social sciences?"</p>
<p>That's the way I interpreted it, too.</p>
