I have literally just started this account to ask this question...so please be thorough.

I am an international student applying for financial aid.

I have just sent my CSS Profile!! However, I forgot to mention anything about my mum's account, which has about 5000$

Is there anyway that they are going to find this fact, consider me as a cheater and cancel my acceptance letter if I get one.

Also, if colleges are not going to find out.

When the Visa process actually happens.

Does the US embassy go into every family member' details and search for hidden bank accounts or something?

I mean it is not the FBI, right?

Thank you very much

You need to notify the college financial aid offices. If the financial aid website is not specific on how to make an adjustment to the CSS Profile for them, then email and ask. It is cheating everyone else who applies for financial aid (and in fact everyone else who pays tuition, and in some cases the US taxpayers) to lie on the CSS Profile. I realize it was a mistake, not intentional, but you must contact the college and fix this right away.

Most of the colleges I applied to are top-tier schools, who do not frequently reply to normal e-mails…so do you think it is necessary to mention the extra 5000$ dollars? DO you think it will matter when they are discussing my Financial aid package?

and is the Visa Process kind of like FBI research, or is it jut receive the documents and approve.

Thank you!

Thank you for your answer…Much appreciated it! Can you answer my other questions instead? Thanks
