My son is figuring out his a-g courses and I can't remember this basic stuff from two years ago.

So he took algebra 1, geometry and spanish 1 in junior high. Those count in the a-g (trying to get over 40) right? I know they don't count in the gpa, but in the a-g right?

thanks!

Um, I think your S need one more class of foreign language, because I think it was "2 required, 3 reccomended"

No, not really. Where UC's recommend you take, say, 3 years of math in HS, they really do mean 3 years of math in HS. Whatever happened in junior high doesn't matter; it just means your son is ahead and can take higher level classes (which is a good thing).

Hi I think I confused you, sorry. He is now a senior and going back in time to figure out all of his a-g classes. What I am asking is do all of those a-g classes he took in junior high count in his a-g list. I'm pretty sure they do, but just not positive.
Thanks

I'm actually not sure. I was only sure of the answer when I misconstrued your question. Sorry.....

Thanks guys I hope they do because then he will have the full 40!

collegemom16

I would like to know the answer to that question, too! Due to a scheduling conflict, son will have 39 A-G classes but if Alg and Geo in Middle School counts, that will bump him up to 41 pts!

Well, I think that the UC's will see all 42 semesters' (typical California High School) worth of your studies in high school. However, barring summer school/JC, there is no way to get 40 semesters of A-G when you consider that there are PE/health (5 semesters) and other graduation requirements as well. I don't think UCSD is that cold hearted...

My son took hs chem and biology in summer school and has taken three community college classes. I think I have it figured out and I think he has the 40. One former college dean told me to check the high school transcript and see if the junior high school courses were listed. I did and two were and one was not. According to him the high school will only list the courses they consider equilavents to their own classes. The classes on the high school transcript should be counted. Are your son's there FresnoMom?

I was wondering, where are your sons? Why aren't they doing the research themselves?

Mine is standing right over my shoulder with a calculator trying to figure out his UC GPA. He has his own account.

Have you been referred to the site with the UCSD points system and formula? If you haven't, I can dig it up for you.

HahahahaHAHAHAhahahahahahah!!!!1one!!won!!!!11

Lol ST FU I'm Trying To Help The Poor Mothers Out Mclovin You A-hole

AHEM, carry on prospective mothers of future UCSD students. Disregard McLovin, he is my stupid sister that fools around alot.

Silly Tien, stop being sexist. There are fathers on CC too ya know.

Collegemom16:

Yes, HS level classes taken in middle school, like alg 1, do count in the a-g course tallie but are not counted in the UC GPA. btw, I took alg 1 in middle school and it counted.

Ah, mathtastic to the rescue. You saved this thread from being slaughtered.

Thanks so much guys. You UCSD kids are very helpful. :)
