I got a 36k award over 4 years when I got in IU and directly in Kelley. From your guys experience, does this generally bode well for admission at other top midwestern publics like Wisconsin and Michigan? IU is an awesome school and I will definitely consider no matter what (unless I magically get into my ED school), but I kinda want to see what this generous award combined with my direct admission to Kelley means in terms of my likelihood to get in UMich and Wisco.

Due to the automatic nature of these awards, I feel that it is a lot easier getting into Kelley than say Ross where you need to impress the admissions panel. If you have a hook or didn’t barely get the 36k award, then you are definitely in good shape for other top business schools. Don’t rule Kelley out though, as a prospective freshmen, I got into a lot of schools you are probably looking at. I don’t regret coming to IU or Kelley one bit, it has been a great experience for me.

Thank you. Yeah I’m not expecting to get into UMich Ross, but I was kind of hoping that my award at IU would mean that I’m in good standing for LSA or Wisco. Having said that though, if I am admitted to those schools I still fully intend to visit them IU and PSU, where I got into Smeal. I just want as many options as possible.

Having a combined minimum ACT score of 30 and a 3.8 GPA (the criteria for the 9000/yr automatic scholarship at IU) puts you exactly in the profile for a typical out-of-state UW-Madison applicant and you will probably be admitted with those stats. However, UW-Madison only directly admits about 20 freshman to its business school and your stats need to be truly exceptional for that. Otherwise you apply to the business school during sophomore year and the acceptance rate is about 50-60%. I believe Michigan has even tougher freshman admission criteria. UW has cheaper OOS tuition while Michigan is really expensive.
