Question re: hearing on dual applicant L,S,&A and Music school

My D submitted her app to both L,S,&A and the Music School last week for dual enrollment in both schools. She probably won't have her audition for the Music School until January at the earliest. Will she hear from L,S,&A separately from the Music School? At the same time? If separately, what would be the time frame to hear from L,S, & A?

As far as I know, LSA will answer separately from the school of Music. Assuming that her application is complete, she will definitely hear back from Michigan by New Year's...maybe a little later. So in all likelyhood, your daughter will hear back from Michigan before her audition.

Thanks for the info, Alexandre. Do you really think it might be as late as New Year's for her to hear? So she may hear from her EA school before UM though she applied to UM two weeks earlier (3rd week October)? STATS: 3.9 GPA, 35 ACT, SAT II 800, 790, class rank prob 3 to 5/70 at a small competitive school, AP Scholar with Distinction. In-state. Other question, how do kids get considered for the Honor's College? Does UM even consider the SAT II or AP?

I would say it usually takes 4-8 weeks to hear back from Michigan (depending on how many students apply from your region...and nothing to do with your child's credentials, impressive as they may be)...on average. If she applied in mid-October, she should hear back anytime between Thanks Giving and Christmas. But given the season's activities, including the holidays, the decision, which will most likely be positive, could spill over into next year.

Given your daughter's impressive stats, I would say she will probably get two acceptances by Christmas...but she had better pick the right school (I'll give you a hint, it is the school that is closer to home).

Thanks again, Alexandre. The Music School acceptance has to come through, too, though! She won't audition til January, so her any final decisions would are pending that!

Good luck to your daughter with her audition. Hopefully, it will work out for her. Keep us posted.
