Question regarding 2yr Suspension from the University

@DistressStudent: Bipolar people can have delusions of grandeur when they’re in their manic state. They might try to fly out a window or read all of Shakespeare as fast as they can, because they think they’re invincible.

Psychosis (delusions and hallucinations) can be present with the big three: bipolar, depression and schizophrenia.

To the OP: they are giving you a two-year suspension which is different from expulsion so it’s not the worst thing that can happen but I understand you anxiety at having things change drastically along with the disappointment over a tough semester. The best that you can do right now is answer honestly over what happened - in general, the vast majority of adults have made errors too though they haven’t necessarily been caught in making them, so they should be able to understand.

BTW, are you a CS or IT major? In some organizations, having a background in hacking is a good thing.

People who commit crimes while suffering under mental illness are not in any way responsible for their actions. Since there is no such thing as a soul, all of the actions performed by a human being are dictated by their brain chemistry and the firing of neurons, factors outside their control. When those firings are off because of mental illness, the result is behavior that is erratic and sometimes “immoral.”

Are you providing a legal opinion?

Society, private organizations, judges and juries can decide that there are consequences to actions where the individual isn’t strictly found not responsible.
