Question regarding GPA (honors classes etc)

At my school...

When I was a freshman, the only honors class available was Honors English.

When I was a sophomore, the only honors classes available were Honors Chemistry (no AP Chem at our school), Honors World History (no AP WH at our school), and Honors English 11.

They also did not give extra grade points for these classes and because of this, my weighted GPA looks lackluster compared with other UC applicants.

There are also not as many AP courses available at our school, so there are not as many chances to take them and challenge oneself obviously.

Is this going to hurt me? Or do they only compare one's academic record to the possible classes that he or she was able to take?

How come the honors classes at my school do not get extra grade points while honors classes at other schools do?

Thanks for your time and I hope you can answer my questions :D

BUMP.. please answer

=D

Admissions officers will look at you in the context of what your high school offers to you. Your GC will give a school profile and will indicate if you took advantage of the most rigorous classes available to you. He/she will also explain in the profile what the school's policy is regarding weighting in GPA etc. You will not be judged against students from other schools that do offer more Honors, AP etc., because obviously you can't take courses that aren't offered.

Thanks man, I was just nervous because my weighted GPA looked pretty weak compared to other applicants.
