Why does my gpa feel so low compared to others on CC? and another question

I have a 3.94 UW (4.00 if you don't count PE) and a 4.18 W. Others on CC have like a 4.5 which is crazy!!!

Is it maybe because my school doesn't have honors classes (except for fourth year french and fourth year spanish)? I haven't taken the most rigorous course load but I've taken close to what is possible.

freshman: no ap/honors (doesn't exist for freshman's unless you're a freshman in calc)
sophomore: 2 aps (if I were in calc that'd make 3 but I was in precalc)
junior: 3 aps 1 honors (i could've taken ap chem but I have to take normal chem first, which I'm doing now)
next year senior: 3 aps

Am I just being lazy and not taking all the ap's or is my school not having honors courses affecting me?

Second question: next year, I really want to have a life and enjoy my last year in high school. so, should i take ap physics or should i take a community college science course?

my prospective schedule
ap econ/gov
ap calc bc
ap english lit
physics
choir

personally, the community college courses interest me more than physics but would another ap class look better on college apps?
i really don't want to take both...

thanks guys!

In most schools, honors courses are not weighted.

In most honors classes are weighted…

Really o.o? At my school, only AP classes are weighted.

Yea, after hanging around CC for awhile I can safely say most schools weight honors classes.

It’s called not sleeping.

Don’t worry about your weighted GPA - the disparity in GPA weighting between schools is why colleges usually disregard weighted GPA and usually just use unweighted GPAs - or they’ll just calculate it themselves by looking at your grades and using your own system.

Since there are no honors classes at my school, the only way to get a 4.5 would be to take 14 AP classes, and get an A an every single one of them, which would mean taking 7 AP classes for 11th and 12th grade since that’s the only time you can take AP classes, lol.

As long as you have a high unweighted GPA and lots of honors/AP courses, you’re fine. Every school has a different weighting system. Disregard weighted GPA and focus on getting those A’s.

I have the same GPA as you XD but don’t worry about grades and GPA so much… It’s best if you’re a better test taker so you’d pass the AP exams & high scores on SAT rather than just getting an A in the class.

Colleges dont care for weighted GPA. All schools weight them differently. They just look at the courses you took and your grades in them.
I, at my school have a 4.0 unweighted.
My school only weighs AP classes by half a point (4.5), and as a freshman, im only taking one of em so I’d have a 4.1 Weighted.
Other schools weight 4.5 for honors and 5 for AP, in which case i would have a 4.28 Weighted (1 AP and 2 Honors because my school doesnt offer many honors classes, only in sciences and maths)
