<p>I think those restrictions only applies to 2nd years and up.
As for Chem, theres just no lab for Chem 1A. I think the stuff you learn in chem 1A wouldn’t require much with lab involvement now that I look back to it.</p>
<p>for math 2b, you can sign up for any lecture and the corresponding discussions (unless you’re restricted by your major to sign up, like lecture A).</p>
